Sponsor Animals

As we are running a not for profit Rescue Farm, we are requesting assistance to ensure that we can provide the animals with the care that they require. We are not independantly wealthy individuals that have unlimited resources, we are a family that believes in proper animal husbandry and a simpler way of life. We do not require vast wealth in order to be happy in life, merely a small income to pay for the things we need to survive. Many of our foods are produced right here on the farm, from vegetables to eggs to beef, dairy, pork and poultry. Our family income comes from off farm employment with other farmers in the area and our Internet Development Business.

Things like Vet Checks are very expensive. A visit from the Vet costs around $200.⁰⁰ for mileage alone. To have a horse's teeth floated (filing of sharp points) costs about $213.⁰⁰ and a check up is another $75.⁰⁰. Wormer Paste starts around $15.⁰⁰ per treatment. Each horse needs 3-4 treaments per year. farrier visits cost $30 per horse per trim. Horses generally need 3-6 trims per year depending on their hoof growth. If you would like to assist in covering Vet costs, you can contribute directly to the Veterinary Office to our Vet Fund.

We are pleased to announce that Masterfeeds in Regina has also given us an account where people can contribute funds directly to them for The CHARM Farm. You can purchase items at Masterfeeds in Regina, or make cash contributions to the account there for the items we generally purchase there. Find more details here.

Our farrier has generously offered to accept direct contributions as well. Should you wish to contribute to the ongoing need for farrier services, or if you want more information, check out our Farrier Fund page.

If you sponsor an animal at the CHARM Farm, you will receive a picture of the animal and regular updates on that animal's condition and activities. You will also receive recognition on this web site and in the barn via placard (unless you request anonymity). Any and all sponsorship is appreciated - even if only in small denominations. Every $5 we raise via sponsorship is $5 less that we need to find to ensure the animals are fed!

Amanda

Amanda is an aged Belgian mare. She has been a family pet more than anything and is not so much in need of rescue as she is in need of a good home where she can be given more attention than she is getting in her current environment. The present owner of Amanda is truly concerned that she get the best that life has to offer. He is gifting her to the CHARM Farm upon the condition that he be given regular updates about her condition and well being.

Lara

Sally

Sally is Lara's daughter. She is a frisky 4 year old Belgian mare who is yet to learn how big and strong she really is. Again, the owner is gifting her to the CHARM Farm more so than surrendering her for any other reason that she needs proper care and TLC. We are truly excited about the arrival of these three outstanding horses. Known as gentle giants, Belgian horses are truly magnificent creatures. We look forward to putting Sally to work pulling a sleigh or other equipment and rewarding her with the best care possible.

Harem

Harem is a 24 year old quarter horse mare with a good disposition. She came from a farm where they had too many horses and was surrendered to us before she could get into a position where she was running out of feed.
Harem truly is a quiet mare. She has taken a shining to the children and will likely appreciate all the attention she is soon to get.

Mariah

Mariah is a Belgian/Paint cross mare, also with a good dispostion. She too came from a farm where feed supply is running short and was surrendered only to ensure that she is well taken care of.
What a beautiful girl this horse is! She seems to have taken quite a liking to our daughter Kay! Mariah has had her foal. May 17^th 2009, saw a new Filly arrive at The CHARM Farm!

Kozina

Kozina is Mariah's baby. Her father is a Morgan.
This little girl is one of the most beautiful animals we have ever seen. From coloration, through to her personality, Kozina is truly a magnificent creature.

Glider

Glider is a 23 year old quarter horse gelding. He has some temperment issues from time to time, likely derived from the poor treatment he received before being initially rescued by someone else. He is now being left with us because the farm at which he currently resides is over stocked with horses and feed is becoming an issue. He has few special needs, but does have a bad shoulder and does go lame from time to time. He will be given extra TLC at the CHARM Farm.
Being the one to have led Glider into the barn upon his arrival, I can honestly say he is a very quiet horse without any noticeable mean streak or excessive nerves. He did not pull at the halter or give me any problems even though there was a good opportunity for him to get spooked. He seems to like the children well enough too. I foresee few problems.

We recently obtained over 100 acres of hay to cut and bale for winter feed. This should cover our needs for the year.

We need to haul in several truckloads of gravel for the floor of our steel quonset where we want to store our hay and equipment.

We have several hundred feet of corral to remove from a farm near us and rebuild here on The CHARM Farm.

We We currently have no planned fundraisers. Please use the Donate button to contribute.

We need help in aquiring feed, transporting the animals from their location to here, mending barns and fencing. We are accepting volunteers of all ages form virtually any walk of life.
